About the Event

Salpicón Night at The Post Bar: We’re exceptionally excited to present another pikkkante night with an amazing line up, the legendary Grupo Lokito, the outstanding Lèa Mondo and the eclectic selector Papaoul will all be performing sets for what is to be a night of first-rate danceable Afro-Latin Rythms.

Live: Lea Mondo + the Sunflowers Grupo Lokito (2 Sets) Dj Papaoul

GRUPO LOKITO The Congo meets Cuba in an exuberant explosion of music ’Grupo Lokito create a modern-day cocktail of two of the great world music; Fusing blistering contemporary Congolese grooves with the fire of Cuban music. The results have audiences dancing in a haze of energy.

“The whole show was invigorating, blessed. It’s one thing to play 'a lo Cubano', and another to blast an adoring audience with a Stratocaster string of chromatic serotonin, as does Lokito's legendary Burkina Faso. But it's a very different thing to combine the two without it sounding like a self-conscious mish-mash. Lokito manage the combination to perfection.” John Armstrong

LEA  + THE SUNFLOWERS: Lèa was born in The Kongo, grew up in Greater Manchester, and now resides in London where she’s a regular on the jamming and gig scenes across the city. Her influences include Bob Marley, Franco Luambo, and Malian artists such as Oumour Sangare and Fatoumata Diawara. She has a deep passion for writing and often sings political songs of freedom for her fellow Afrikans, as well as songs about mental health and love. Her instrumental and vocal style offer a broad range both stylistically and tonally – lush and well placed, her conscious lyricisms find the perfect home in the beautifully complimenting soundscapes.

“Music is where I find solace, I love to channel my talent in expression into my deep concern about society which will hopefully help to awaken people about the appalling problems we choose to ignore in regards to our “world leaders”. She’s currently working on her debut E.P., “Mwana Mboka”, a 4 track political project sung in her maiden language of Lingala and English, urging Afrikans and the wider world to love each other, amalgamate and change the world for the better.
