On-U Sound is an iconic independent label that has been pushing the boundaries of sound since 1980 - with a treasure trove of remarkable music and sits in a unique position historically as a junction point between the heavy influence of Jamaican music on UK culture and the development of disparate sounds such as post-punk hip-hop industrial jungle dubstep and beyond.
Setting new standards of dub production Sherwood produced a vast army of reggae funk and rock artistes including African Head Charge New Age Steppers Creation Rebel Little Annie Bim Sherman Mark Stewart & Maffia Judy Nylon Akabu Gary Clail Asian Dub Foundation London Underground Dub Syndicate Tackhead and the dub collective Singers & Players to name just a few…
“Adrian brought together outsiders and we were doing stuff that other people weren’t. We were forcing the boundaries of the equipment.” - New Age Steppers bassist George Oban
