About the Event
Yusuf Yellow is a Leeds based hip-hop artist, playing with a live quartet that draws on a driving jazz focused sound. Over the last few years, Yusuf has been building up his material and getting himself known on the UK hip-hop scene.
His songwriting and lyrics navigate through the different stages of his life, overhauling his creativity in the process. Having played at We Out Here festival and a regular at Leeds Brudnell Social Club, he's been slowly making his way to more shows around the UK and we're delighted to have him billed.
Jazz-fusion, cold wave, alternative soul, however you want to describe Respair you can’t deny the impressive range of sound that they bring to their show. Their meticulous work ethic and focus brought them to deliver a legendary performance at the experimental stage in Ronnie Scott’s and now re-united and re-galvanised they begin again, to deliver song, sound and solos indicative of four individuals with wildly different backgrounds producing a wild sound together.
Neelofer Nova is a poet and spoken word artist, writer, mentor and workshop facilitator from South London. Proud of her Pakistani heritage and passionate about speaking up for the under-represented voices in society.
Female empowerment, mental health, spirituality and identity are strong topics that feature in her work. Described as visceral with her spoken word, her work comes from passionate truths, constructed to empower, uplift and inspire. Neelofer's style of poetry gives audiences much food for thought!
